The Franz Cornelsen Foundation

The Franz Cornelsen Foundation is the principal majority shareholder of the Cornelsen Group. As a private foundation, it ensures the long-term stability and independence of the group and lays the foundations for its sustainable development.

Foundation Structure and Ownership

Established by publishing house founder Franz Cornelsen, the foundation aims to strengthen the group’s companies and Cornelsen’s social commitment in the long term. The funds generated remain within the Cornelsen Group and are channelled into its further development – in terms of quality, innovation and forward-looking educational programmes.

At the same time, the foundation lays the groundwork for a broad-based commitment to education and society: through grants to the non-profit Cornelsen Foundation for Teaching and Learning, it supports the further development of schools and teaching. It supports teachers and school leaders, provides impulse for educational practice and strengthens exceptional commitment within the education system.

In this way, the Cornelsen Group combines business continuity with social responsibility: alongside high-quality educational media, it thus makes an active contribution to improving education and gives something back to the education system in a sustainable way.
